Etupuolelle kerrostetaan ensin luontainen amorfinen piiohutkalvo ja sen j\u00e4lkeen P-tyypin amorfinen piiohutkalvo P-N-liitoksen muodostamiseksi. Takapuolelle kerrostetaan samalla tavoin luontainen amorfinen piiohutkalvo ja N-tyypin amorfinen piiohutkalvo, jotka muodostavat takapintakent\u00e4n.  <\/p><p>Koska amorfisen piin johtavuus on heikko, kennon molemmille puolille levitet\u00e4\u00e4n l\u00e4pin\u00e4kyvi\u00e4 johtavia oksideja (TCO) tehokkaan varauksen johtamisen helpottamiseksi. HJT:n aurinkokennoissa k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n vain yksikiteist\u00e4 piit\u00e4, koska sen puhtaus ja hy\u00f6tysuhde ovat ylivoimaisia, mik\u00e4 tekee siit\u00e4 ihanteellisen korkean suorituskyvyn sovelluksiin. <\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Amorfinen pii (a-Si)<\/strong><br>Amorfinen pii nousi 1970-luvulla esiin sopivana materiaalina ohutkalvovalos\u00e4hk\u00f6tekniikassa. Vaikka se sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 luonnostaan tiheysvirheit\u00e4, ne poistetaan hydratoimalla, jolloin saadaan hydrattua amorfista piit\u00e4 (a-Si:H). T\u00e4m\u00e4 modifiointi parantaa sen kaistanleveytt\u00e4 ja seostuskyky\u00e4, mik\u00e4 tekee siit\u00e4 v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4n komponentin HJT-kennojen tuotannossa.  <\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Indiumtinaoksidi (ITO)<\/strong><br>Indiumtinaoksidi on suositeltavin materiaali HJT-aurinkokennojen l\u00e4pin\u00e4kyv\u00e4n johtavan oksidikerroksen (TCO) valmistuksessa. ITO on tunnettu heijastuskyvyst\u00e4\u00e4n ja s\u00e4hk\u00f6njohtavuudestaan, ja se parantaa optoelektronisten laitteiden suorituskyky\u00e4, sill\u00e4 se toimii ratkaisevana kontaktikerroksena. Niiden ainutlaatuisena erona on kolmikerroksisen absorptiomateriaalin k\u00e4ytt\u00f6, jossa yhdistyv\u00e4t ohutkalvo- ja perinteinen aurinkos\u00e4hk\u00f6inen rakenne. Kun moduulin liittimiin kytket\u00e4\u00e4n kuorma, fotonit muunnetaan s\u00e4hk\u00f6energiaksi, jolloin syntyy virta, joka kulkee kuorman l\u00e4pi.  <\/p><p><strong>Fotonien absorptio ja elektroni-aukkoparien muodostuminen<\/strong><br>P-N-liitokseen osuvat fotonit her\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4t elektroneja, jotka siirtyv\u00e4t johtokaistalle ja muodostavat elektroni-aukkopareja (e-h). N\u00e4m\u00e4 elektronit ker\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4n P-koostumukselliseen kerrokseen liitettyihin liittimiin, jolloin syntyy virta, joka kulkee kuorman l\u00e4pi. Kun virtapiiri on p\u00e4\u00e4ttynyt, elektronit palaavat kennon takakoskettimeen ja yhdistyv\u00e4t uudelleen reikien kanssa, jolloin e-h-sykli p\u00e4\u00e4ttyy. T\u00e4m\u00e4 jatkuva sykli mahdollistaa s\u00e4hk\u00f6ntuotannon.   <\/p><p><strong>Pintarekombinaation v\u00e4hent\u00e4minen<\/strong><br>Pintarekombinaatio, ilmi\u00f6, jossa elektronit muodostavat parin reikien kanssa tavallisten c-Si-valokennojen pinnalla, rajoittaa niiden hy\u00f6tysuhdetta est\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 elektronien osallistumisen virran kulkuun. Heteroliitoskennoissa t\u00e4m\u00e4 ongelma ratkaistaan sis\u00e4llytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 niihin passivoiva ohutkalvo, joka on valmistettu laajemman kaistanleveyden omaavasta hydratusta amorfisesta piist\u00e4 (a-Si:H).
