Het proces begint met Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), waarbij een ultradunne laag intrinsiek silicium wordt aangebracht voor passivering. Aan de voorkant wordt eerst een intrinsieke amorfe siliciumdunne laag afgezet, gevolgd door een P-type amorfe siliciumdunne laag om de P-N junctie tot stand te brengen. De achterkant is op dezelfde manier gelaagd met een intrinsieke amorfe silicium dunne film en een N-type amorfe silicium dunne film, die het achtervlak vormt.  <\/p><p>Omdat amorf silicium een laag geleidingsvermogen heeft, worden aan beide zijden van de cel transparante geleidende oxides (TCO) aangebracht om een effici\u00ebnte geleiding van de lading te vergemakkelijken. In HJT zonnecellen wordt alleen monokristallijn silicium gebruikt vanwege de superieure zuiverheid en effici\u00ebntie, waardoor het ideaal is voor toepassingen met hoge prestaties. <\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Amorf silicium (a-Si)<\/strong><br>Amorf silicium kwam in de jaren 1970 op als een geschikt materiaal voor dunne-film fotovolta\u00efsche technologie. Hoewel het van nature dichtheidsdefecten bevat, worden deze opgelost door hydrogenatie, wat resulteert in gehydrogeneerd amorf silicium (a-Si:H). Deze modificatie verbetert de bandkloof en de mogelijkheid tot doping, waardoor het een onmisbare component wordt bij de productie van HJT-cellen.  <\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>Indiumtinoxide (ITO)<\/strong><br>Indiumtinoxide is het materiaal bij uitstek voor de transparante geleidende oxidelaag (TCO-laag) in HJT-zonnecellen. ITO staat bekend om zijn reflectievermogen en elektrische geleidbaarheid en verbetert de prestaties van opto-elektronische apparaten als een cruciale contactlaag. Hun unieke onderscheid ligt in het gebruik van een drielaags absorberend materiaal dat dunne film en traditionele fotovolta\u00efsche ontwerpen combineert. Wanneer een belasting wordt aangesloten op de aansluitingen van de module, worden fotonen omgezet in elektrische energie, waardoor een stroom ontstaat die door de belasting stroomt.  <\/p><p><strong>Fotonenabsorptie en elektron-gatpaargeneratie<\/strong><br>Fotonen die op de P-N junctie vallen, exciteren elektronen, waardoor ze in de geleidingsband terechtkomen en elektron-gatparen (e-h) vormen. Deze elektronen worden verzameld door aansluitklemmen die verbonden zijn met de P-gedoteerde laag, waardoor een stroom wordt opgewekt die door de belasting stroomt. Nadat het circuit is voltooid, keren de elektronen terug naar het achtercontact van de cel en recombineren ze met gaten, waardoor de e-h-cyclus wordt afgesloten. Deze continue cyclus maakt het mogelijk om elektriciteit op te wekken.   <\/p><p><strong>Vermindering van oppervlakte-recombinatie<\/strong><br>Oppervlakte-recombinatie, een fenomeen waarbij elektronen paren met gaten op het oppervlak van standaard c-Si fotovolta\u00efsche cellen, beperkt hun effici\u00ebntie door te voorkomen dat elektronen bijdragen aan de stroomdoorgang. Heterojunctiecellen ondervangen dit probleem door een passiverende dunne film op te nemen van gehydrogeneerd amorf silicium (a-Si:H) met een bredere bandkloof.
