The Relationship Between 1/2-Cut and 1/3-Cut Technologies

Both cutting technologies aim to reduce current density and minimise thermally induced losses — 1/3-cut takes this principle one step further.

  • Traditional 1/2-cut modules use laser technology to split cells along the centre line. The objective is to reduce current density and resistive losses (I²R losses), as each string carries only half the current, thereby limiting heat generation caused by electrical flow.
